Most promotional materials designed for cities feature the same tired imagery and copy geared towards tourists. These fail to capture the experience of traveling, where often the most beautiful moments involve talking to the locals, trying street food, and embracing spontaneity.
The piece takes a paper promo booklet for Mohawk and elevates it to an art book that celebrates Istanbul as a sensory experience. Along with intricate die-cuts, the book features tear-away postcards, and an embossed rear logo for the Istanbul municipality. The images feature the work of a professional street photographer as well as my own photographs from the city, arranged alongside poems about Istanbul written by renowned Turkish poets.
The goal is to provide a taste of city life that feels more authentic and showcases the beauty of smaller moments that make travel worthwhile.
